“The Family Company That Treats You Like Family”
In 1976, after more than 25 years in the transformer industry, Eddie Roberts decided, along with his wife Diane, to open Roberts Transformer Sales and Service in Apopka, Fl. From the outset, Eddies’ work ethic and philosophies shown through. He believed that honesty and hard work were the keys to success and made sure that his employees subscribed to these same beliefs.
From the very beginning, family played a major role, with Eddie’s wife and co-owner Diane paying the bills and eldest son Mark Roberts learning the business from the ground up. The other family members would soon follow suit. In 1990, while Mark was promoted to Vice President, Eddie and Diane’s’ daughters, Erica and Wendy came on board to help in the front office. Finally, in 1997, youngest son, Jason came to work for the family, assisting with customer care.
Roberts Transformer continued to grow while under the leadership of Mark Roberts. In 1995, Mark started the substation service division of Roberts. In short order, we became the largest service company in the state of Florida. In 2001, the substation service division was purchased from the Roberts family. VP Mark Roberts went to that company as well to manage their newly acquired division, before later leaving and starting North American Substation Services. Lastly, the company name went as well going from Roberts Transformer Sales and Service to RTS.
Sadly, in January of 2007, we lost our founder, father and friend in the passing of Eddie Roberts. Because of the work ethic and beliefs instilled by Eddie, the family has continued on, and now RTS is better than ever. You will still find our co-founder and owner Diane paying bills and keeping us all in line. Erica and Wendy, they are still in the office. Son in law Mike is here managing operations since 2001 after 11 years of learning the business from Mark and Eddie, and Jason is here pulling double duty as our Vice President and as a youth pastor at a local church.
Sometimes mottos are just catchy phrases and empty words. But here at RTS, when we say that we are “The Family Company That Treats You Like Family” that is exactly what you get.
